Professional Tree and Shrub Care in Crested Butte, CO

Why Trees and Shrubs Need Professional Care Programs

Trees and shrubs represent some of the most significant long-term investments in any landscape in Crested Butte, CO. A mature shade tree may represent decades of growth and thousands of dollars of appraised landscape value. Yet many property owners pay little structured attention to these assets until a visible problem develops, at which point intervention is significantly more expensive than prevention would have been. Kelly Landscaping's tree and shrub care programs in Crested Butte, CO are built around a preventative management philosophy that monitors plant health proactively, provides consistent nutritional support, and addresses structural issues before they become safety or health problems.

Our tree pruning services in Crested Butte, CO follow ISA and ANSI A300 pruning standards that define proper cut placement, wound response optimization, and structural correction techniques. We do not top trees, a practice that creates multiple structural defects and dramatically shortens tree lifespan. Instead, our pruning work focuses on removing deadwood, crossing and rubbing branches, co-dominant stems that create included bark unions, and branches that create clearance issues with structures or utility lines. Every cut is made to a lateral branch, bud, or the branch collar to promote correct wound response and minimize decay entry.

Shrub care in our Crested Butte, CO programs encompasses proper seasonal pruning timed to each species' bloom cycle and growth pattern, deep root fertilization using slow-release granular products incorporated into the root zone, and monitoring for the pest and disease issues that most commonly affect the ornamental shrub species present in regional landscapes. We train our technicians to identify early signs of common shrub pests including scale insects, aphids, spider mites, and borers, as well as fungal diseases including powdery mildew, fire blight, and Phytophthora root rot, so that treatment recommendations are made while problems are still manageable.
